Besides asking us to redesign her visual identity, Alberta Pane started a conversation with us about publishing exhibition catalogs.
We discussed the role of the catalog and its core meaning for a gallery space, and we found a solution that doesn't serve only as the exhibition's documentation, but it is also a printed experimental platform for the artists. Published on the occasion of the main exhibitions of Alberta Pane's gallery space, every volume creates a dialogue between the artists, our design studio - which in this case has the role of the editor - and the gallery.
Published for the eponymous exhibition, Le désir is the first volume of this series and features contributions from every artist represented by the gallery, each one providing his/her own vision and interpretation of the notion of desire. The book is further conceived as a parallel exhibition with a loose binding and pages, readable in both portrait and landscape orientation, that can be removed from the volume and hung on the wall.
